NMBBC Youth and Children's Ministry
From the cradle to graduating High School, we have something for your children!
Our young people are such an intregal part to our church's ministry. Each Sunday, we offer a junior church time for the children to learn on their level, truths about Christ. We also have a well staffed and quite busy nursery to care for your youngest children up to 4 yrs. old. Each summer, we enjoy putting together a Vacation Bible Time for Elementary age children. This is a fun time that we invite everyone to come out and participate in a variety of activities and challenges from the Word of God.
Each week, our teens get together for their youth group Sunday School hour. They are taught from the Word of God, and challenged in their relationship with Him. Teens also have opportunties to serve in the church, as well as, participate in community service opportunties, such as visiting a local nursing home and helping conduct a service there for the elderly. On a regular occasion, our teens get together under the leadership of Jon Thompson and hold some wild and crazy activities. No one goes home without a smile on their face after our young people get together for these activities.
Youth Leader
Jon Thompson heads up a variety of ministries for Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church. A 1992 graduate from Pensacola Christian College, he has served at NMBBC since 2003, as the director of youth ministries and the NMCA school principal. He also heads up many of the building and maintenance projects of the church and weekly directs the church's choir.
Jon and his wife, Merribeth, have 7 children ranging from Junior High to married and out of the house. Through his ministry at NMBBC, Jon desires that strong families are built upon the principles found in God's Word. He enjoys a variety of sports, working on the side as a sub-contractor, and of course, evenings out with his wife.
